Crop protection
Herbicides, insecticides, fungicides and biologicals for agriculture. The biggest part of the register, and the one where generic entrants move fastest.
Active products only, each counted once, October 2026. See how we count.
What stands out
Crop protection is where the large portfolios sit, and where they are most exposed to generic competition. When an active ingredient comes off patent, a wave of new registrants can follow within months, often with technical-grade registrations first and end-use products after.
Biologicals are still a small share of the register, around one product in thirty, but they come from a wide base of about 200 companies. That makes them a good place to watch for new entrants and for acquisitions.
Questions teams ask
- Which companies registered new products on [ingredient] in the last 12 months?
- Compare [your company] and [competitor] on the herbicide ingredients you share.
- Which biological products are registered for [pest] on [crop]?
- Which registrations moved between companies in the last 90 days?
Teams use Dantive to see generic entry early, compare portfolios ingredient by ingredient, and follow the changes of owner that reshape who sells what.
