Questions and answers
The questions people usually ask before they try Dantive. If yours is not here, write to info@dantive.com.
What is Dantive?
Dantive is competitive intelligence for the US pesticide market. It reads the whole EPA register at once, every active product, distributor label and registrant, and lets you ask questions about it in plain English, browse it, compare companies and get alerts when something changes.
Where does the data come from?
From public records published by the US Environmental Protection Agency. Dantive picks up new and changed records every day. It does not use private or paid data sources, and it does not need your company's own data.
How current is it?
New registrations, label changes, distributor labels and changes of owner are picked up daily. Alerts can be sent daily or weekly.
What do you count as an active product, and how?
Only products whose registration is currently active. Cancelled and inactive products are left out of every count, list and comparison. A product counts once, however many label versions it has had. Distributor labels are counted separately because they are sold under another brand but rest on someone else's registration.
Does Dantive include distributor labels?
Yes. About 38,000 active distributor labels are traced back to the product they are based on, so a private label does not hide who actually makes the product. This is what makes the distributor switch analysis possible.
Can we use Dantive from Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT or Claude?
Yes. Your IT team adds Dantive to the assistant once, like any other business connector. After that people can ask any question about the register from inside the assistant, including head-to-head comparisons and distributor analyses. Each user has personal access that can be revoked at any time.
What can I do in the Dantive web app that I cannot do in my assistant?
The web app adds the Data Browser, where you explore the market without writing a question, and drill-down into any company or product with its full registration details. Answers can also be exported to CSV or Excel.
How accurate are the answers?
Counts and lists come from queries on the registration records themselves, and answers point back to those records. Where EPA's own record is incomplete, for example pest and site coding for some recent products, we say so. Dantive is decision support, so check anything important against the official record before you rely on it.
Do you need any of our data?
No. Dantive works entirely on public EPA records. We only hold your account details and usage logs.
Is Dantive connected to the EPA?
No. Dantive is an independent company. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the US Environmental Protection Agency.
What does it cost?
Plans are priced by the size of your portfolio, with no limit on users in your company, and prices are on request. Most teams start with a paid 60-day pilot, which is credited against the first year if you continue. See the pricing page for details.
What is the free Distributor Switch Snapshot?
A one-page brief comparing your company with one competitor of your choice: the distributors you share, where they have added products since 2023 and you have not, and your closest equivalent product for each. The founder prepares and checks it, and you receive it within two business days.
Who is behind Dantive?
Dantive was founded by Vincent, who has spent 25 years in global chemical companies working in finance, commercial excellence, CRM and enterprise AI. Dantive is operated from Sabadell, near Barcelona, Spain.
Where is the data hosted, and is it secure?
The core database and application servers are hosted in the EU. Access is by invitation, connections from AI assistants are read-only, and every query is logged. The security page has the details for your IT team.
