The US pesticide register in numbers
How big the market is, who holds it, and how fast it moves. Counted by Dantive from EPA's own records, active products only, each registration counted once.
Counted in October 2026. A product counts once, however many label versions it has had. Distributor labels are counted separately because they are sold under the distributor's own brand but rest on someone else's registration.
A long tail behind a few large portfolios
The ten largest registrants hold about one in five active products. The 37 companies with 100 or more products hold about 42% between them. At the other end, roughly three in four registrants hold five products or fewer.
That long tail is where much of the movement comes from: new entrants, specialists and generic suppliers registering products that compete with the established portfolios.

What the market is made of
Active products by main category. Herbicides and insecticides make up more than half of the register. Antimicrobials have the most registrants of any category, many of them small companies with a handful of products each, and they account for nearly half of all active distributor labels.
